but I really don't feel the same

Standing in the shadows
in the corner of the after party
Heat of conversation
I'll just stand here silently
Always overdressed or underdressed
hoping that we'll get undressed
Hoping that I'll get some rest
but I want to enjoy the rest
Of the night
but I don't see an end in sight
Drink under the table
I just want to show my might
I thought I saw a light
but it was just my own reflection
After a long night of
intense introspection
Sometimes I feel like
I only come in binary
Hoping that the others
at least do not mind me

You know I really don't think
much of myself

I can hear the death knell

I didn't notice but
my metabolism halted
and they tell me that the human body
just can't be faulted
But compared to yesterday
everything seems to crumble
Stamina and sleep patterns
just tend to take a tumble
Walking past the door
of the current generation
I'm not that old yet
but soon I'll be ancient
My brain is weary but it's also
like a child
Playing with my toys like
it's going out of style
I'm hoping that I live
for quite a long while
but what if cancer or something takes me
before I have a child?
I don't know...
That's just the way it will go
